SETYO HARIYADI SURANTO PUTRO

Born in Purworejo, Central Java, on August 24, 1979. He completed his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctoral degrees at Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya in mechanical engineering, with specializations in manufacturing, energy conversion, and aerodynamics. His Bachelor of Engineering degree was obtained in 2004, his Master of Engineering degree in 2015, and his Doctor of Engineering degree was obtained in 2019 with a dissertation discussing the aerodynamics of winglets on unmanned aircraft (UAV).

His career in aviation education began in 2006, when he was active as a lecturer at the Indonesian Aviation College and later at Surabaya Aviation Polytechnic. He taught various important courses such as aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, airframe structure, and aircraft mechanical systems. In addition to his teaching duties, he has also demonstrated a strong commitment to research and innovation in aviation engineering education.

In the course of his career, he has been trusted to hold several important structural positions. Between 2007 and 2010, he served as Secretary of the Airport Electrical Engineering Study Program before being appointed as Head of the Study Program from 2010 to 2016. Furthermore, he served as Head of the Aviation Engineering Department from 2016 to 2018. His dedication to improving the quality of education led him to be trusted to lead the Internal Quality Assurance Unit (UPMI) from 2018 to 2021, the Research Unit from 2018 to 2021, and the Research and Community Service Unit from 2021 to 2022. From 2022 to early 2024, he took on the responsibility of academic coordinator. Then, in 2024, he was appointed as Deputy Director I for Academic Affairs of Surabaya Aviation Polytechnic, a structural position that he still holds today.

As an academic, he has served as a Head Lecturer since 2022 and has become one of the main figures in the development of research and scientific publications in the field of aerodynamics and aviation technology. He has led or been actively involved in more than 20 research projects, mostly focusing on aerodynamic efficiency, vortex generator development, and unmanned aircraft systems engineering. His research results have been published in reputable national and international journals, including those indexed by Scopus.

Outside of academic and structural activities, he is also active in community service. The programs he initiated include composite technology training, the development of smokeless combustion devices, wind turbine-based lighting systems, and environmentally friendly clean water treatment for rural communities.

With a strong academic background, extensive leadership experience, and high dedication to the development of vocational education, Dr. Setyo Hariyadi Suranto Putro is one of the important pillars in the transformation of aviation engineering education in Indonesia.
